Charlie Birney, managing director of The Brick Companies, a family-owned real estate development and ownership firm in Edgewater, Md., in February was elected president of the organization. The company’s Atlantic Golf division owns three courses. Birney replaces Henry DeLozier, principal of Global Golf Advisors, as head of the 6,000-member owners group. Bill Aragona, president and general manager of Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club in Boulder Creek, Calif., was elected vice president. Other officers chosen were Linda Rogers, owner of Juday Creek Golf Course in Granger, Ind., secretary, and Meriam Leeke, owner and CEO of Old Channel Trail Golf in Montague, Mich., treasurer. Two new board members were elected: Bill Brown, owner of Mont Cascades Golf Club in Chantley, Quebec, Canada; and Matt Galvin of RDC Golf Group in Monroe Township, N.J. People on the move Scott Dedo has been named head professional and operations manager for Dalat Palace Golf Club in Dalat, Vietnam, the country’s oldest course. Pomona, N.Y.-based Empire Golf Managem e nt h a s prom ot e d Mark Unger to director of operations for the company’s eight owned or Scott Dedo managed courses. Terry Yacyshen, former general manager at Bear Mountain Resort, is the new resort general manager at The Rise in Okanagan, B.C. The Ritz-Carlton Club, Dove Mountain in Marana, A Ariz., has added K Kenn Depew as ge general manager of golf operations. David Boal is the n new golf course m manager for Mt. Kenn Depew Lebanon Golf Course in Mt. Lebanon, Pa. Joe Rotarius has joined St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo., as general manager. Stanley Sopczyk, one of the original key executives with TaylorMade Golf, is the new chief operating officer for Cleveland Golf. Lifestyle sportswear company Sunice has named industry veteran Chuck Sakmann U.S. director of sales. Stacie Bryan is the new player development director for Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. Sergio Poo is the new director of golf at Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort’s Faldo Legacy Course in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
