Kumgang region in late May following four years of construction. The Kumgang Ananti Golf and Spa Resort will be operated by the Seoulbased Emerson Pacific Group. The facility, located on 1.7 million square meters, also includes a hotel, spa and restaurants with sea and mountain views. It’s the second tourist resort in the area. Hyundai Asan, a subsidiary of the South Korean Hyundai Group, already operates a facility at Mt. Kumgang. The newest resort initially will be operated as a members-only club, but will be opened to tourists in the future. Hyundai officials said that more than 100,000 South Koreans visited Mt. Kumgang during the first five months of 2008, nearly twice the number who visited in 2007.
