South Africa and Egypt are two notable regions where law students immerse themselves in the culture, cuisine and scenery. As the world’s second-largest and second most-populous continent, Africa is considered one of the most popular destinations for a study abroad pro- gram. Milbrant traveled to Africa this past October with a team of Pepperdine University students to establish a study abroad program with the Ugandan Supreme Court. The school is also working on a project to improve Uganda’s law reporting system and digitize the country’s 30 years of unreported case law studies. Milbrandt said he was asked to go on the trip because of his international experiences. The man who called himself Thunderbird had gotten his MBA in the United States. After learning that Milbrandt was a law student, “I suddenly became more than a visitor,” Milbrandt said. “It was a strange experience,” said Milbrandt, who’s currently earning his JD-MBA. “He was excited to see an American student.” Many of his overseas travels have been through internship experiences, like Bangladesh. “We came up to a remote village — got off at a bus stop — and within a few seconds we were surrounded by Bengali people just surrounding us,” Milbrandt said. “Space limitation is not the same there.” Amsterdam Gay & Lesbian Legal Issues Only summer law program devoted exclusively to gay & lesbian legal issues. Visits to Court of Appeal, and Carcassonne or Roquemadur. Santander International Environmental Law A popular program with program housing at the beach in scenic Northwest Spain. Curriculum includes international and comparative law courses and usually limited externship opportunities with a prominent Spanish law firm, for which Spanish fluency is required.
