Investigators said they found two bullet holes in a book on real estate transfer finance and development in the complex’s parking lot. Jesse M. Sneed, 27, faces a felony charge of criminal recklessness with a weapon. No one was injured, but the incident prompted police to close businesses and roads around the complex for several hours. The apartment was a mile away from the campus. Police said that Sneed tried to drive away from the area and was under the influence of alcohol. Investigators found two assault rifles, an AR-15 and an AK-47, in the attic of his apartment. publisher Westlaw pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide after she drove the wrong way on a freeway last March, killing a man in a head-on collision. Paige Bassett will face mandatory prison time — between two and eight years. She was a Westlaw editor at the time. Died Southwestern Law School is mourning the loss of an internationally recognized faculty member on antitrust law. Lawrence Sullivan, a professor since 1991, embodied all the values that law schools seek in a professor, Dean Bryant Garth said. Sullivan was honored as the Irwin R. Buchalter Professor of Law in 1997 and received an honorary doctor of laws degree in 2002, taking emeritus status in 2005. He was also appointed by former President Jimmy Carter to the National Commission for the Review of Antitrust Laws and Procedures. Sullivan was 84. A Roger Williams University School of Law graduate was killed in Iraq. Special Agent Nathan J. Schuldheiss was stationed at the Balad Air Base in Iraq and working as a civilian for the Air Force, assigned to the Office of Special Investigations. He was hired by the Air Force in 2005. The International Association of Criminal Law has awarded Mark Drumbl, a law professor at Washington and Lee University School of Law, its Book of the Year Prize for 2007 for his publication, “Atrocity, Punishment, and International Law.” In the book, Drumbl offers a fresh look at how perpetrators of atrocity crimes should be punished — the first study of its kind. Participating The University of Dayton School of Law is among a group of law schools the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has chosen to participate in its next examination of how American law schools educate their students. Renamed Officials at the University of California Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law spent nearly $25,000 on a branding consultant to help them give the school a new name — UC Berkeley School of Law. Dean Christopher Edley Jr. said the money was well-spent because people will now understand that the law school is tied to UC Berkeley. The new name will take affect in January and will informally be called Berkeley Law School. Investigating Rebecca Huss, a Valparaiso University School of Law professor, began evaluating four- dozen pit bulls rescued from an animal fighting operation on property owned by Michael Vick — the suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback. She will make recommendations to the court on which dogs can be placed with an adoption agency and which should die. The U.S. attorney called Huss a leading expert in animal law.
