NEWS U.S. News gathers info for part-time law school ranking U.S. News & World Report has started preparing their first ranking of parttime programs, according to Robert M Morse, director of data r research for U.S. News. T rankings are schedThe u uled to be published at th end of March 2009. the Morse said he b believes there is a need to assess the relative m merits of part-time J.D. pr programs because many pr prospective law students are trying to determine the best part-time program in their metropolitan area, or even nationally, in order to help them decide which law school they should attend. In order to compile the first-ever ranking, U.S. News has added questions on rating part-time J.D. law programs to the annual U.S. News reputation peer assessment survey that is sent to top administrators at each school accredited by the American Bar Association. They are asking each of these law school academics to nominate up to 15 top part-time J.D. programs, Morse said. They will also collect admissions statistics from each program including median LSAT score, undergraduate grade point average and acceptance rate of the class that entered in the fall of 2008. Still undecided is the idea of changing the law school ranking formula. Morse said U.S. News will not make a decision until January 2009. Appointed Cruz Reynoso, professor at the University of California, Davis School of Law, has been appointed to President-elect Barack Obama’s Justice and Civil Rights Agency Review Team. Reynoso will help lead a review of key federal departments, agencies and commissions, as well as the White House. The review will provide the ObamaBiden Transition Team with Cruz Reynoso information needed to make policy, budgetary and personnel decisions prior to Obama’s Jan. 20 inauguration. Reynoso is an internationally known civil rights leader, the first Latino to sit on the California Supreme Court, and a 2000 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
