DePaul University College of Law Study Abroad In an era of globalization and a blurring of cultural and economic borders, the study of international law has taken on new importance. DePaul University College of Law offers students five unique immersion experiences focused on some of the most pressing international issues ranging from financial transactions to protecting human rights. December 29, 2008 - January 9, 2009 Buenos Aires, Argentina: The Legal Dimensions of Doing Business in Latin America Offered for the first time this winter, the Argentina program will focus on the basic framework of Latin American law and legal systems, as well as the key principles of international law necessary for advising clients doing business in the region. May 18 - June 12, 2009 Beijing, China: Asian Legal Studies Institute The Institute provides an introduction to China’s legal system, focusing on the legal principles related to international transactions in the Asia-Pacific region. The program also offers students tours of the major historic and cultural sites of Beijing, Shanghai and Xian. June 21 - July 17, 2009 Madrid, Spain: European Legal Studies Program The European Legal Studies Program introduces students to European human rights law and European business and commercial law. June 25 - July 19, 2009 Sydney, Australia: International Law in Oceania and South Asia Offered for the first time in 2009, the Sydney program will offer courses in international competition law, comparative criminal procedure and the unique aspects of Australian law and its legal system. The program also will include trips to notable tourist sites in both Sydney and Melbourne. July 26 - August 21, 2009 San Jose, Costa Rica: Human Rights Law in the Americas The Costa Rica program introduces students to the basic principles of international law with an overview of the Inter-American human rights system. Lectures focus on how human rights philosophers and activists have transformed Latin American law, economics, society and politics.
