Demleitner said she is very excited to have the opportunity to lead Hofstra Law School and help enhance its name and reputation in the legal community. •Robert Ackerman, a professor at Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law, has been named dean of Wayne State University’s Law School. Ackerman, the dean of Willamette University from 1996 to 1999, is to start at WSU this spring. He replaces the outgoing Frank Wu, who became dean in 2004 after teaching at Howard University School of Law in Washington. •David Wippman, a Minnesota native, will be the next dean of the University of Minnesota Law School. He’s currently a professor and serves as vice provost for international relations at Cornell University. Wippman starts his new position July 1. The law school has been without a dean since Alex Johnson resigned in 2006. Volunteer Twelve students from Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law volunteered to assist in the efforts to rebuild New Orleans during winter break. The students conducted house-to-house interviews in the Pontilly neighborhood, collecting information that was then passed on to the Pontilly Disaster Collaborative.
