Participating students will earn 2 to 7 units in a joint classroom and externship environment, with courses coordinated to allow sessions for special speakers or relevant site visits. Classes are scheduled so that students can maximize available time for the externship experience. THE INSTITUTE ON PUBLIC LAW focuses on local government law or legislative advocacy (lobbying), with an option for externships in a wide variety of city, county or state offices. In addition, participants will make a one-day visit to Sacramento to meet with public officials and private actors involved in law-making and the administrative process. Externships may be completed in locations throughout Southern California as well as Sacramento and the Bay Area. THE INSTITUTE ON ENTERTAINMENT LAW offers courses in “The Music Business Today & Tomorrow” and “Basics of Entertainment Contracts,” as well as externship and internships. Coursework is complemented with a focus on the preparation of a skill set for real world practice.
