Instead, Egertson said he recommends that prospective law students look beyond sites like LawSchoolNumbers.com. In fact, he said the site probably gets their figures in part from a report issued by the American Bar Association and the Law School Admissions Council. The resulting report, ABA-LSAC Official Guide to ABA-Approved Law School, has more comprehensive information, Egertson said, and it provides a more consumer-driven profile of U.S. law schools. Plus, its data is no more than a year old, which makes it a more accurate reflection of a law school’s current situation. Egertson said he also encourages students to call their law school of choice and talk to someone about the attrition rates and what if anything the law school is doing to improve or change them. At Golden Gate, Egertson said officials counsel students with lower grade point averages, which can be a strong indicator of how a student is going to fare in law school. The law school also recently added house will help students get more practical legal experience.
