But some have gone much further and offer enhanced opportunities for students interested in practicing international law. “International education has to be a part of any legal education,” said Herbert Larson, director of international programs at Tulane Law School. “You can’t expect realistically to practice law without confronting international legal issues.” So just how “international” is your law school? We talked to experts across the country to compile a quiz to help you determine whether your school is “Great” or “Behind the times.” Take the quiz and send us your results. Variety Most law schools offer a generic course in international law, but it take more than one class to make your school great. “Most international lawyers are not practicing public international law,” said Daniel Bradlow, professor and director of the International Legal Studies Program at American University Washington College of Law. “A lot of it is really transnational work.” International law study encompasses a whole slew of subtopics and practice specialties: there’s traditional public international law, human rights, international trade and finance, international intellectual property, and environmental and natural resources law, just to name a few.
