He is now the author of “The Opportunity Maker: Strategies for Inspiring Your Legal Career Through Creative Networking and Business Development.” “Business and career development is much Ari Kaplan like investing,” Kaplan said. “We don’t start thinking about these things until we are in it. By then, we’ve lost all this time and need to plant seeds much earlier.” Kaplan said the techniques discussed in the book are really designed to help those development goals from start to finish. They include building your ing personal brand, leveraging mizcreativity and maximizent ing business development ny potential through many ng different avenues including ttelevision, charity or getting published. “Law students have a e virtual get out of jail free w card,” he said. “In law school you have a lot of flexibility. People are generally interested in meeting students. The book talks about finding rself ways to distinguish yourself in ways that are honest and genuine.” One way is by spotlighting the good of others and have it reflect on your character, Kaplan said. “As lawyers we’re reactive, and when y you’re trying to crea opportunities you ate h have to proactively m make the call,” he said. “T book is all about “The th the reasons.
