Diaz’s nomination is in the category of “Outstanding 2008 Hispanic Female in the Legal Field.” Diaz serves as advisor to the Hispanic American Law Student Association, a group she helped form in 1995 and has advised ever since. HALSA is one of the law school’s most active clubs and has been involved in multiple pro bono community activities. It has collaborated with the Hispanic Bar Association. “I am honored to be nominated for this award,” Diaz said. “It underscores the progress that Hispanic women have made and continue to make in the professional arena. To be recognized as a minority woman striving to make a difference is truly humbling and fulfilling.” In less than a year after her Dean Leticia Diaz appointment as dean, the law school reached a number of milestones: It had the largest first-year class in the school’s history and its graduates scored the highest first-time Bar passage rate in the school’s history.
