Schaumburg - Live, Work, Play - November/December 2008 - (Page 12) Crowning ynonymous with Schaumburg’s Labor Day festival is its queen – Miss Septemberfest. This year, Schaumburg High School senior Allyson Lopshire won the role. In her court were finalists Natalie Bryeans and Sara Cruse, both Conant High School students, and Schaumburg High School seniors Monica Sanchez and Dana Fiebelkorn. Lopshire emerged the winner after an application process that evaluated her extracurricular involvement and volunteer activities, as well as an essay she wrote about why she wanted to win the title. Each applicant sat through a personal interview and were by eileen o. daday S achievement judged on poise, character, community involvement and their knowledge of Schaumburg. It all led up to the crowning ceremony, which took place on the Friday afternoon before the opening of the festival, before a room full of village officials and the Rotary Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates which hosts the coronation. “Miss Septemberfest represents the best in Schaumburg youth,” said Rotary Club member Anita Forte-Scott. “We think of this less as a pageant and more about service and achievement, which is what Rotary is all about.” Lopshire’s prizes included a $500 scholarship from the photos by bob chwedyk/ schaumburg magazine Miss Septemberfest ‘08, Allyson Lopshire
