Schaumburg Live Work & Play - January/February 2009 - (Page 35) How it all started Budd Friedman, the founder, started the club in 1963 in New York City. It started off as an after-hours club, says Baldino. At the time newcomers like Dustin Hoffman would play the piano, and Bette Midler would sing impromptu at the club. Occasionally, comedians would tell jokes. That gave Friedman the idea to create an all-comedy club. “That’s how it all started,” Baldino said. “We were the first comedy club in the United States.” • Image Systems & Business Solutions • B&W & Full Color Copiers Donna Diekneit • Fax / Scan & Wide Format Sales Manager 1092 National Parkway • Office Supplies / Furniture Schaumburg IL 60173 • Document Storage Retrieval 847-882-7500 Ext. 108 www.isbscorp.com • Printer Management january/february 2009 Page 35 http://www.isbscorp.com http://www.isbscorp.com
