In addition to Schaumburg’s Finn McCool’s and Houlihan’s, check out these area establishments. Quigley’s Irish Pub, 43 E. Jefferson St., Naperville, holds its 7th annual Irish Coffee Contest for bartenders and servers from restaurants and bars all over Naperville at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 9. Then they will be familyfriendly after the Naperville Parade on Saturday, March 14, opening at 11:30 a.m. for Irish fare and fellowship. That evening the Irish band “Go Figure” plays from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. No cover will be charged. On St. Patrick’s Day the band “New Element” will play from 3 to 6 p.m. and “Cirrus Falcon” will follow from 8 p.m. to midnight. Cover charge is $5 per person. Both Tommy Nevin’s Pub, 3032 English Rows, Naperville and Muldoon’s, 133 W. Front St., Wheaton will feature Irish dancers, bagpipers, musical acts featuring flutes, tin whistles and harps as well as Irish pub bands from March 13 through March 17. No cover is charged and those under 21 are welcome to eat and enjoy the music. Corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, shepherd’s pie and other Irish treats will be served by the ton. Visit tommynevins.com or muldoonswheaton.com for details. Claddagh Irish Pub, 1702 Commons Drive, Geneva plans a Family Day with no cover charge for both Friday, March 13 and Sunday, March 15. The band “Dejavue” plays from 9 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, March 14 with no cover. Then on March 17 “Celtic Sounds” will play from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. Irish dancers and bagpipers will entertain from 6 to 7 p.m. Finally, “Dejavue” will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight. Only 21 and over will be permitted after 7 p.m. and a cover may be charged. Peggy Kinnane’s, 8 N. Vail Ave., Arlington Heights has distinctly unIrish bands planned for the Friday and Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day. “Rico,” a Santana tribute band, will play from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Friday, March 13 and “Heartache Tonight,” an Eagles tribute band, will play Saturday, March 14. Covers of $5 will be charged both nights. On March 17 Peggy Kinnane’s will feature a special menu of Irish fare, bagpipe music and giveaways, but no band. Durty Nellie’s, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine will feature the local cover band, “Mike and Joe,” from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., Friday, March 13. A three-band line-up entertains beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 – “Hi Infidelity,” “Rock Candy” and “Funky Monks.” Covers of $6 will be charged both nights and Irish music will play in the pub. On Tuesday, March 17 Durty Nellie’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. and Irish music will play continuously. Exact bands are not yet firm. A cover charge of $6 will be charged after 7 p.m. The unusual comedic production, “Flanagan’s Wake,” transports you to the fictitious Irish village of Grapplin where friends and family gather to mourn the loss of one of their dear friends, Flanagan. His mother, fiancée, neighbors, priest and the village mayor remember the life and death of their friend, with the help of the audience.
