In 2007, the company introduced limited edition bottles by Haute Couture king Christian Lacroix. The prêt-a-porter bottle (this page, at right) was inspired by Lacroix’s use of a model dressed as a bride at the finale of every Haute Couture show. The limited edition collectible designer bottle features a coppice lace motif, providing a frosted texture resembling the flora found in the French Alps. As a celebration of women, Lacroix created the luxurious Haute Couture bottle (this page at left) of which only 99 were made, to personify Evian as a feminine ice Queen. Drink up! John Boyajian began his career by exporting lobsters to Europe in the late 1970’s. Boyajian approached the Petrossian family to distribute his lobsters. Though the family declined, Boyajian was offered the opportunity to sell Petrossian caviar in the U.S. For the next two decades John Boyajian received a loyal following. Eventually, Boyajian decided to draw from his Armenian heritage to create a line of infused oils, Asian oils, vinegars and vinaigrettes, pure citrus oils, natural flavorings and extracts and smoked salmon. Honored with five of Boston Magazine’s prestigious “Best of Boston” awards, Boyajian products are for the culinary conoisseur. Our favourite at CSL is Boyajian organic basil oil and selected aged balsamic vinegar blended together in a vinaigrette. The blend is perfect drizzled over a salad, or vine-ripened tomatoes. www.boyajianinc.com Available at Cookbook Co. Cooks, 722 11th avenue S.W. FRE SPIRIT e best part of enjoying a glass of wine is the nuances and avor notes. for non-alcohol drinkers, this has not been an option- until now. fre, alcohol removed wines, by American wine maker Su er homes has adopted a de-alcoholization process originally from Australia. using a spinning cone column, fre’s process separates the aromas and avor essences before removing the alcohol. e next step is to blend the aromas and avours to unfermented grape juice from the same varietal. unlike previous methods, fre wines preserves the avours and nuances that were originally present in the wine. fre wines are equally suited for mocktails or by themselves. our favourite? fre sparkling brut, a blend of Chenin bland and Pinot noir grapes. Subtle apple and berry notes are balanced with a delicate residual sugar, and a refreshing crispness. offering everything from Chardonnay to Spumante, Merlot to Zinfandel and premium white and red, you might just have to build a second cellar! www.su erhome e.com 14 | SPRING 2008 | citystyleandliving.com CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: COURTESY EVIAN; JESSE YARDLEY (2) http://www.evian.com http://www.boyajianinc.com http://www.sutterhomefre.com http://citystyleandliving.com
