There as a time, though, not so long ago that it was different. In the glory days of commercial flying there were no security lines, no long waiting. Meals were served on elegant bone china. Meat was carved before passengers. And the champagne. Oh! the champagne. Only the best would do. Even in a small tropical island, forgotten by most of the world, in a town whose name would mean nothing but to those who had lived there, the airlines (unknowingly) brought champagne for islanders to enjoy. We were unaware of this–market transaction–shall we call it - until we were sitting in the boardroom at Krug in Reims, France snacking on gougères, and sipping champagne. Tours of Krug are through invitation only, and we were privileged to be among a very small group that experienced firsthand the operations at the champagne house.
