The 1000 Islands Parkway winds its way from Gananoque almost to Brockville. If visiting from the United States, turn off at Hill Island, which links Ivy Lea to Collins Landing, New York. Hill Island is linked to the mainland at Lansdowne by the Thousand Islands International Bridge, which affords a panoramic view from the 1000 Islands Skydeck, 130 feet above the St. Lawrence River. A public wharf has dock space for up to 30 vessels, and a picnic area and barbecues are close by. Fishing is particularly good in Westport, where perch, smallmouth bass, pickerel and pike are plentiful. Fishermen can try their luck in Upper Rideau Lake, Westport Lake, Westport Pond and several nearby lakes. For a thrilling view of the area, take a walk to the peak of Spy Rock or try a guided tour of Foley Mountain Park, the highest conservation area in the Rideau Valley.
