Stars Light the Way The Canada Select Accommodation Rating Program will help guide you to the most appropriate accommodation to suit your needs. Whether you are seeking a Hotel, Motel, Inn, Cottage, Bed & Breakfast, Resort or Hunting & Fishing Lodge, our stars will light the way to your selection. An Accommodation Rating Program is defined as “the rating of like accommodations based on the basics of cleanliness, comfort and safety, as well as the extent and quality of facilities and amenities”. Canada Select inspects and rates all participating properties to ensure they meet consumer expectations. The higher the star rating, the more extensive the facilities, guest services and amenities. Categories It would be like comparing apples to oranges to rate Bed & Breakfasts using the same criteria for a large Resort or Hotel. So, the various types of accommodations are divided into six different categories and different criteria are used in each to establish the star ratings. Exceptional accommodations with an extensive range of facilities, guest amenities and services. Luxurious properties - among the very best in the country in terms of the outstanding facilities, amenities and guest services provided. 1/2 stars are awarded to properties whose overall quality of facilities exceeds their specific category star rating.
