Signature Vacations - Cruise 2008/2009 - (Page 7) Grenada; Waterfalls An eco-enthusiasts paradise, Grenada’s inland area is bursting with natural beauty. One of the more noted attractions is Seven Sisters Falls. Hike through the dense tropical rainforest, en route passing a private plantation teeming with cocoa, nutmeg & banana trees. Make sure to bring your swimsuit, once you have finished your 45 minute hike you will want to cool off in the refreshing pools. Dominica; Boiling Lake Filled with bubbling grayish-blue water and virtually enveloped in a cloud of vapour, Boiling Lake still remains a relatively unexplored phenomenon. Discovered in 1870, the temperature at the edge of the lake was recorded between 180 and 197 degrees Fahrenheit while the centre temperature (where the boiling originates) is still unrecorded due to its dangerous accessibility. Shrouded in mystery it wasn’t until July of 2007 that the first person (adventure filmmaker George Kourounis) crossed the lake from above, suspended by ropes over the most violently boiling section. Antigua; Beaches The perfect destination to unwind, Antigua boasts 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. With so many to choose from there is a beach for every person and every activity. Dickenson Bay is one of the more populated beaches and offers a plethora of bars, beachfront restaurants and water sport rentals. If you are looking for something a little more serene, visit the quiet and laid-back Runaway Bay. St. Martin; Shopping With approximately 500 duty free stores, the island of St. Martin is a shoppers haven. The wealth of stores makes for friendly competition between the merchants and assures excellent prices on fine jewellery, designer clothing, liquor, electronics, native crafts and more. A father and son business passed down generation to generation, the Callwood Distillery has been in operation for over 4 centuries now. Using cane from Cane Garden Bay, Michael Callwood continues to oversee production as part of preserving the history and culture of the island. The existing building that is used for distilling is estimated to be over 200 years old and contains some of the original stone work. Visit this authentic rum plant and pick yourself up a bottle of this island classic! Grenada Antigua St. Maarten 7 Caribbean Gems Tortola; Callwood Distillery
