We have just returned from the Soaking Conference and our kids, Megan and Daniel, went to the Kid’s Conference. As always our visit to Toronto was a special time for us. It has a very special place in our hearts. We have been visiting since 1994, first from the UK and now we live in Ottawa. The first time we came, my husband, Dave, and I were broken. We had just come out of strong spiritual abuse and walked away from 5 years of fertility treatment because we felt that to go further would have involved too much intervention. We had been told that it was impossible for me to become pregnant without further treatment. However one night in January 1995, John Freel stood up at TACF and began to tell his story of how he and his wife, Anne had also struggled with infertility. Their story mirrored ours. Dave, my husband, found John during the ministry time, and he prayed for us. A month later I was pregnant. When I contacted my specialist to tell him that I thought I was pregnant, he said, “Impossible, you can’t be.” When we saw Megan on the scan at 6 weeks old with a beating heart, he said, “This is God”. He had no other explanation - we had been speaking to him over the 5 years about God. When Megan was born, the specialist came to find me, held Megan and kept saying over and over, “This is God.” The reason I am writing this to you now is that Megan was one of the children who performed the “God Rods” dance during the conference, and it struck me that what came about through a prayer while I was lying on the floor at TACF nearly 13 years ago has culminated in a beautiful young lady praising God and loving Jesus on the stage just above the carpet where it was all put into motion. God has always met us in a powerful way whenever we have visited the church, but during this visit, I was so thankful again to Him for the life that He gave to us and the life that He has put in Megan.
