Spread the Fire - March 2008 - (Page 7) Matthias then returned to Canada to complete the heart module for 5 months, whilst I carried on working and even though it was a difficult time for us, it was also a molding and maturing period for us both spiritually. Matthias returned to the UK the very end of July, and we were married August 27th. Since marrying we have lived in Switzerland because we know that this is where God wants us to be and even though it was difficult to give up my family and church, I wanted to be obedient to God’s calling and through this I find peace each day. We are leaders of the youth group at our local church and know that God has a plan for Switzerland. I also would like to testify that God healed me from pre-cancerous cells that were found in my womb before we got married and now we expect our first baby within the next 3 weeks! Praise God! He is so amazing, and He has touched my life so powerfully and blessed me with such a wonderful husband and soon expected little baby! Rebecca Richard Switzerland Results not typical! Dear Melinda!! I just have to tell you what a blessing you are! First time I heard you was at the Releasers of Life Conference at TACF in February, I LOVE your accent and humor and how it opens the doors of hearts and minds to receive what God is saying. I just received Spread the Fire magazine, and it was pure joy to read the editorial! Now I’m saving it to read this weekend, when I’m at a spa with the ladies I went to Toronto with. Spa and Soaking weekend-can it get any better down here? God bless you and THANKS for sticking your head out there and just being you! Sincerely, Astrid D. Naerbo, Norway You are welcome, Astrid. I decided years ago that I was tired of acting spiritual. It was too much pressure. If we all drop our religious masks and be real, we will come much closer to experiencing God’s love and loving other people as they are, too! Love, Melinda Fish { I thought your “Women’s Work” page in May 2007 Spread the Fire was excellent writing: a little humor, good illustrations and apt comparisons. Ken Lacy Michigan Thank you so much for the article, “What did Jesus do about Women?” in TACF’s Spread the Fire (May issue, 2007). The church denomination I belong to has been struggling to resolve the issue of “women in office” forever, like many churches. Our denomination split over it in the early 90’s. This year’s Synod (our major assembly which meets once a year in June) again is discussing how women may contribute to church life; this time the issue is whether women who are pastors and elders should be delegated to major assemblies… Your article is like a fresh wind, which also is very timely! Judy Cook Ontario Just a note re Sarah Colligan’s article in Spread the Fire, Aug 07. She states that on MySpace, there is “no way to get rid of the advertisements.”However, the web browser, Firefox has an ‘adblock’ feature that allows one to block all objectionable material so one can view MySpace virtually ad-free.Some of the more popular browsers are beginning to ad an adblock feature in their newer versions.
