Spread the Fire - November/December 2007 - (Page 22) repentance, the son is open to reconciliation with his earthly parents. Now we may truly honor our fathers and mothers because we have found the true purpose for which they brought us into the world, God’s purpose. It is important for you as a Christian to make every attempt to restore the relationship with your earthly parents, because it affects your relationship with God. John Arnott often says, “The Father is what we are all about here at TACF.” Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that began there in 1994, millions of people from all over the world have experienced a revelation of God as Father. Some have remained focused on the powerful touch of the Father’s love and a new experience of the joy of the Lord as well as the spontaneous physical and vocal manifestations, but these signs point to something. That “something” is becoming more like Jesus by developing that tender relationship with our Heavenly Father. tion, divisions and even hatred within congregations. All these things sometimes even exist between leaders and denominations—and even in the River! It makes me wonder how we can come to the place where unbelievers say about us, “Behold, how they love one another.” The wonder of rebirth hasn’t brought us to this love. Seeing displays of the Holy Spirit’s power among us hasn’t bought us to this love. Greater knowledge of the Word hasn’t bought us to it; in fact, maybe the opposite. (Romans 8:39) The love that was and is revealed in Jesus is the love His Father has for Him. (Romans 8:35 and Ephesians 3:19) When Jesus prayed, “I have declared to them your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You have loved Me may be in them, and I in them” (John 17:26), Jesus asked the Father that the love He continually experienced would also be our continuous experience, that we would live in the Father’s love as He did. Andrew Murray wrote, “What the Father’s love was to Jesus, His love will be to us.” FATHER IS THE ONLY SOURCE OF LOVE Jesus said, “All men will know that you are my disciples when you have love one for another.” When I first became a Christian, I was dismayed because I had few friends. It was difficult to make friends. I had very good friends in my non-Christian life who are still true friends today. However, I still see the reticence in many Christians to have or become true friends. If you have been in church very long, you understand why the New Testament often rebukes Christians for continuing in sins such as jealousies, competitiveness, criticism, rejec- S TF - 2 2
