Fire Musters have served smaller communities in several ways, offering a sense of pride in local fire departments, and a good time to the public at the same time. Attendance for the St. Thomas version has grown to top 40,000 regularly now. The annual event is St. Thomas’s largest family event of the year. Things to see and do run a long list. There’s the giant fire truck parade which runs to Pinafore Park, plenty of fire-fighter games and competitions, children’s entertainment and play areas, crafts and displays, a Dalmatian Dog show, fire truck rides, a church service, plenty of food, including a breakfast in the park and more. The historic Pinafore Park, with its spacious greenery and mammoth trees, is a picture-perfect setting for the popular muster. It has free admission, but a voluntary boot toll raises money for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. 24 First Ave. Unit 2 St. Thomas, ON N5R 4M5 or 1-866-404-0406 www.joeprestonmp.ca (519) 637-2255 Fire Muster St. Thomas’s Family Event of the Year!
