Now in its 38th year it is the only visual art organization and facility in St. Thomas and Elgin County. The ambitious programming reflects the vision of the Art Centre to offer stimulating programs and forums for the exploration of art and ideas by featuring artists of regional, national and international importance. It is the mission of the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre “to encourage and promote the visual arts in St. Thomas and Elgin County through a variety of exhibitions, educational programs and through the preservation of our Permanent Collection.” The Art Centre is home to a Permanent Collection of over 900 significant art works.An extensive range of art classes, school tours and workshops are offered year round for all ages and the uniquely designed facilities are available for all-occasion rentals. A "One of a Kind" gift shop offers an exceptional selection of regionally created art works and craft and specialty items. A range of membership levels are available that are designed to reflect the demographics of the community and offer individuals, businesses and corporations attractive opportunities to sponsor exhibitions and special events. Like everyone else who visits" Port", the end result is moving to “Port”. It is a wonderful place, offering sun and fun in the summer, but plenty of ambience all year round. Now an avid sailor, she can never leave the Lake's grasp. Among her interests Art has reigned supreme, represented by five galleries across Ontario. Her work has been shown in public and private galleries for the past eighteen years. In early December of 2007 she and Darren Thompson (of "Crickets" from Your Hometown Team Since 1944 Sparta) opened William Street Gallery, it is one of five different locations in Port Stanley offering fine art work, in addition a number of restaurants also feature local artwork. Suzette's work ranges from colourful figurative pieces to evocative spiritual paintings.In her latest series, entitled Snakes & Ladders, she employs many glazes and impasto textures to create her multidimensional pieces.
