This historic section of line has been restored and preserved by their efforts. The crews are eager to provide you with an interesting and informative train ride on a railway that opened as a steam railroad in 1856, and electrified in 1915. See two historic stations that were built in the days when the automobile was not the only way to travel. From 1856 to 1957 over 25 million passengers “rode the rails” of the L&PS. Many took the train for an outing to the beach at Port Stanley. The beach and railway are still here and better than ever. Today many young people have never had the opportunity to “ride the rails”, so bring the whole family for a train ride. You can choose a seat in one of our open coaches for an unobstructed view, or you can choose to ride in a closed coach that’s heated in winter. On our leisurely ride, you will roll over two bridges, traverse the boat-lined banks of Kettle Creek, look for deer in the apple orchards along the way, and marvel at the cuttings and fills created by hand labour so long ago. See some of the many plants and trees that grow along the track, many of which are unique to the north shore of Lake Erie.
