The Daymon Difference - Winter 2008/2009 - (Page 14) going green The Day the Earth Went Green On April 22, 2008 Daymon celebrated Earth Day with a wide range of activities aimed at helping the environment and the local communities of our account teams. From charity Olympics to animal charities and to beach clean-ups, Daymon associates marked this special day in their own unique ways. In the DRC, associates gathered to drink coffee in their Sustainability mugs and to view a slideshow of what the other teams were doing. It was a great way to share knowledge and perpetuate One Daymon. “Earth Day is a great way to bring the environment to the front of our minds, however we need to remember that one day per year is not enough,” says Heather Gill, Daymon Sustainability Manager. “We breathe oxygen every day of the year, we harvest crops, watch the sun rise and set, and swim in the ocean. If you think about it, we owe the Earth a lot more than one day or even one whole month of consideration. At Daymon, we are striving to make every day Earth Day by reducing our impact and switching to more Sustainable behaviors for the long run. We will accomplish this together, one day at a time.” Schnuck;s team (left to right) Tim Randolph, Tom McMunn, Alex Sizemore The Kroger GO Team The K-VA-T Team The Food4Less Team The Giant Carlisle Team 14
