John Muir Health Progress Report 2006/2007 - (Page 14) An E xtr aordinary Future Right Here John Muir Health is larger, stronger, and enhanced in almost every way, from medical capabilities to infrastructure to patient satisfaction than we were just ten years ago. But we firmly believe we can continue to improve, and everyone in the organization is committed to building on the significant progress we have already made. Our plans includes adding new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, increasing our presence in the community – we are currently assessing the possibility of building a third inpatient medical center on our 56-acre site in Brentwood – enhancing patient safety, and making it easier, faster, and simpler to use John Muir Health services. In the near term, we are especially focused on two large capital building projects at a cost of $800 million that will improve and strengthen our Walnut Creek and Concord campuses. The John Muir Health Foundation has recently embarked on a major fundraising campaign to help raise financial support for this ambitious building project. On our Walnut Creek Campus, we are building a new patient tower, expanding our Surgery and Emergency Departments (as well as building a new helicopter landing pad), and increasing capacity in the Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Units. We have nearly completed a new 767-car parking structure, and when the full project is completed in 2010, we will have increased patient beds, added several beautiful new public spaces, and made the medical center considerably more efficient and easy for patients and families to use. There are also capacity constraints at the Concord Campus, so we will be expanding space in the Emergency Department, adding four catheterization labs, and building 49 more private rooms with advanced telemetry beds. We will also expand and enhance the Intensive Care Unit and, perhaps most importantly, continue to consolidate John Muir Health’s cardiovascular services into a modern facility that will be the centerpiece of the organization’s Cardiovascular Institute. All of us in the organization are very excited by the changes underway at our two medical center campuses, and we look forward to these and the many other enhancements at John Muir Health that will ensure we continue providing our unique brand of extraordinary medicine right here in Contra Costa County. © 2003 VESTRA Resources, Inc. www.vestra.com Vallejo Benicia Martinez 80 Pleasa 24 Orinda Lafayette Ross Moraga San Francisco Bay 14 http://www.vestra.com
