Faux Fur
I
NSPIRED BY THE flowing forms of textiles and cloth, this fur-like wall wows
shoppers at the MRQT boutique in
Stuttgart, Germany. Designed by Swiss
architecture firm ROK, the boutique
offers a curated selection of premium
streetwear brands set against a minimalistic white
interior space of beechwood shelving, a grinded
concrete floor and this striking wall feature. So,
what's it made of exactly to give it such a tactile
nature? Try 22,000 wooden sticks! Holes were
CNC-drilled in MDF panels by a digitally controlled
5-Axis drilling router, and each one has a different orientation to define the individual direction
of every stick installed. The result: a fluid wall feature that begs to be pet. (Although we would advise
against it.)
