Wellness at Work The Mayo Clinic’s New Health y Living Center Benefits Employ ees Widely recognized for advanced medical research and specialized patient care, the Mayo Clinic also takes pride in offering a healthy work environment for its employees. The clinic’s success with this mission, aided by a new wellness center on the Rochester, Minnesota, campus, recently helped Mayo earn a 2007 Gold Award from the National Business Group on Health. The facility, known as the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center, opened in the summer of 2007 and is now one of the largest employee-focused wellness centers in the country. Co-designed by PSA-Dewberry with St. Paul, Minnesota-based BWBR Architects, who also served as the architect of record, the center supports traditional fitness programs as well as ambitious programs in education and research. Physical assessment areas enable staff members to capture and analyze data relating to the effectiveness of fitness programs. Don Wong Photo, Inc.
