In anticipation of the
2018 Chicago Auto
Show, which will be held
in conjunction with the
Digital Dealer Workshops
next month, we'd like to
shine light on the
association that has
produced this world-famous event since 1935,
and also share some
highlights for what you
can look forward to on the
exhibit floor.
CATA, founded in 1904,
is one of the nation's
oldest and largest metropolitan new-car dealer
associations in the nation.
Their membership consists of 420 franchised
new-car dealers and
an additional 150 allied
members. Their dealer

members employ more
than 20,000 people in the
metropolitan area.
For more than a
century, CATA has stood
for high principles of
business. Its basic tenets
remain as steadfast today
as they were a hundred
years ago: Promoting
honesty and dependability in business operations;
Employing truth and accuracy in dealer advertising; Standing by guarantees; Improving business
methods and ethics and
keeping competition fair
so that dealers and the
public are well-served;
and Refraining from
practices detrimental to
the industry or contrary
to the public interest.

CATA's commitment to
excellence in automotive
retailing remains its core
value.
The association
engages in a number of
initiatives centered on
supporting dealerships
and the communities they
serve, including providing resources/guidance
to dealers to help them
grow their business while
maintaining standards of
excellence; supporting
political action committees that advance the
interests of dealers to
gain a voice in front of
state and local lawmakers; and goodwill efforts
in the community, such as
donating emergency relief
efforts to aid victims of

natural disasters.
The organization also
runs the Chicagoland
Dealers Care program,
which was created in
2008 to raise awareness
and build upon charitable
efforts put forth by the
local dealer community.
Chicagoland Dealers
Care program is funded
entirely by the CATA
(it operates under the
association's First Look
for Charity Foundation,
which has raised $42
million for Chicago area
non-profits since the
Chicago Auto Show's
black-tie gala began in
1992).
