We are a bit diﬀerent from a lot of stagers in that we own our own inventory of furniture, accessories, art, etc. that we have chosen very carefully so that your house does NOT look corporate. The purpose of staging is to make your house look homey, inviting and enticing to prospective buyers, so that your house gets sold! Do I have to paint my walls white? I spent a lot of time and eﬀort painting the rooms in my home colorfully. I do not have any wild and crazy colors, but I do have color. I am very proud of how it looks but my agent said that we should repaint it all white for staging purposes. Is this really necessary? Does every room in my house have to be white? Yes, your agent is correct is telling you to neutralize every room in your home, but I would NOT suggest ever using white! There are plenty of other neutral tones that are much superior to using white. Many homeowners feel the same pride as you in making their home colorful, but it is precisely for this reason that repainting is important. An important part of staging is “de-personalizing” the home to make it a commodity that will appeal to the broadest range of people. And the truth is, most people like neutral colors. Does staging just involve swapping out furniture or is it more involved? Depending on your furniture it may not need to be removed at all, but it is very important to de-clutter your home to make it look larger. This may involve removing or swapping out furniture, but also includes a cleaning component. Some must-dos are washing the windows to let in as much light as possible, and completing all the little repairs and updates that need to be done around the house. Have a staging question?
