AWARDS AND RECoGNITIoN DLA Piper and Colin moorhouse Honored by Maryland Volunteer Lawyer’s Service aryland Volunteer Lawyer’s Service (MVLS) selected DLA Piper to receive its Law Firm of the Year Award for 2008, as well as Colin Moorhouse (Baltimore) as its Volunteer of the Year for his remarkable commitment to MVLS clients. In 2007 and 2008, 30 DLA Piper lawyers spent almost 1,500 hours on 83 matters referred by MVLS. Colin personally handled dozens of matters for the organization and devoted multiple Saturdays to assisting individuals prepare their tax returns at the organization’s tax clinic. Finally, Jonathan Eisner and Anthony Rosso were recognized for their significant pro bono and financial support as members of the MVLS Leadership Circle. M DLA Piper Receives ABA Pro Bono Publico Award LA Piper was proud to receive the prestigious 2008 American Bar Association Pro Bono Publico Award, given by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. Each year, the Standing Committee chooses up to five institutions and individual lawyers from across the nation that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteer legal services for the poor and disadvantaged. DLA Piper Honored by CELDP T D he Community Economic Development Law Project of the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights honored DLA Piper for our longstanding commitment to pro bono and our longterm relationship with CEDLP in particular. Two of the firm’s clients spoke at the event about how much they appreciated the work their DLA Piper lawyers had done for them. DLA Piper’s Service to San Diego veterans Honored n November 9, DLA Piper received a 2008 Achievement Award from the San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC) for the firm’s Serving Those Who Serve Our Country Signature Project, in recognition of the firm’s efforts to meet the unmet legal and community support needs of military personnel and their families in the San Diego region.
