Counseling Points™ Rheumatoid Arthritis: Epidemiology, Symptomatology, and Natural History of the Disease Process Continuing Education Information Target Audience This educational activity is designed to meet the needs of infusion nurses and nurse practitioners involved directly in early and long-term management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Learning Objectives Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to: • Discuss the prevalence, economic burden, morbidity, and mortality rates associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) • Explain the pathophysiology and risk factors for RA • List the symptoms of RA • Describe the natural history of the disease process and its implications for disease management Continuing Education Credit The Infusion Nurses Society (INS) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Nurses who practice in states that mandate continuing education for licensure are responsible for validating this education program with his/her state’s licensing board.
