Counseling Points - December 2008 - (Page 3) welcome Dear Colleague, Welcome to the fifth issue of Counseling PointsTM on the subject of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for the infusion nurse. In this edition, we discuss many of the new biologic treatments that are being investigated in clinical trials for RA, a chronic, systemic, inflammatory, destructive disorder that is associated with significant mortality, functional disability, and economic burden. We also provide information about reputable online resources where both patients and health care professionals can access important up-to-date RA disease and treatment information. Because we recognize that many patients have trouble paying for RA medications, we have also devoted a section of this issue to programs that provide medication payment assistance. This publication is brought to you through an unrestricted educational grant from Roche and is an official continuing education publication of the Infusion Nurses Society (INS).
