Legacy - Volume 3, Number 2 - (Page 23) Awards Professional and Technical Spotlight on people and projects Roadway project earns award The Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers awarded the “2007 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement of the Year Award” to the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Chicago Skyway Interchange reconstruction project. CTE’s efforts on IDOT’s behalf includes work on the Skyway Interchange as well as the Dan Ryan Expressway. The award is presented annually to one project in northern Illinois that demonstrates engineering excellence. CTE and IDOT staff accepted the award. Upgrades earn excellence DMJM Harris’s Energy and Power Services group was recognized for its work at California State University’s San Bernardino campus. The group earned the “Award for Excellence” from the Association of Physical Plant Administrators for optimizing the San Bernardino campus’ central plant and providing campus-wide energy efficiency upgrades. DMJM Harris is also providing energy services to CSU's Fullerton and Northridge campuses. Qualityand cost basis for Silver Award The American Concrete Pavement Association named DMJM Aviation the co-winner of the “2007 Excellence in Concrete Pavement Silver Award” for the Taxiway K project at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Led by James Kirschbaum, P .E., vice president, the project was recognized for its quality, reduced costs, and minimal road-user delays. Despite difficult site conditions, the team worked with airport operations to complete the project ahead of schedule and delivered a high-quality product. Aviation receives FDOT award DMJM Aviation’s innovations helped the RSW Runway 6/24 and Taxiway A Rehabilitation project earn the “2007 Outstanding Airport Project Award” from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The project was selected for its innovative methods, including using a parallel taxiway as a runway during rehabilitation. FDOT recognizes projects throughout Florida for achievements in airport aesthetics, safety and service. DMJM Harris: “Employer of the Year” DMJM Harris was named “2007 Employer of the Year” by the Greater New York (GNY) Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) at its 11th Annual Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Expo and 28th Annual Meeting. The award was presented to Ira Levy, P DMJM Harris president and WTS-GNY .E., member by GNY president Jenny Kapelyan, in recognition of the firm's support of women in the transportation industry. Sacramento project recognized The Sacramento Regional Transit-Amtrak Light Rail Extension was recently named “Transportation Project of the Year” by Region 9 of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). DMJM Harris’s Sacramento office earned the award in recognition of its excellence, teamwork and perseverance in its work on the light rail extension.
