The state’s airports are overflowing their capacity, fueling the need for expansion and improvements. Here’s how AECOM sister companies DMJM Aviation and DMJM Harris are working to improve California’s airports, providing a comprehensive range of services to ease air travel and speed passengers on their way. On-call in San Diego Founded in 1928, San Diego International Airport (SDIA) is the busiest single-runway commercial passenger airport in the United States, servicing 17.4 million passengers per year. Managed by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA), the airport and its associated industries are a boon to the local economy, generating about $9 billion per year. DMJM Harris has provided services to SDCRAA since 2004, when it joined forces with the Authority’s staff on a three-year on-call contract to perform design services for the airport’s capital improvements. Through this contract DMJM Harris provided services that ranged from concrete and asphalt pavement improvements to site security fence upgrades to building assessments.
