Walneck's Classic Cycle Trader - June 2008 - (Page 28) SPECIAL FEATURE STORIES J. WOOD SHOW AND AUCTION choice. A few impromptu rides were taken. Many learned what alluring roads central Florida has to offer (as opposed to Daytona’s traffic jams). If the “structured” shows weren’t enough, just walk across the street to the parking lot. At any moment you might see an old BMW R69S parked next to a 1952 Vincent Rapide. As you turn around, there goes a Triumph Bonneville just like you had. Hey isn’t that just like the Kawasaki Z-1 you lusted after in 1973? Walk in the auction preview and come back out, and it has all changed again. Probably one of the greatest shows is in the Gymnasium. All of the bikes to be auctioned are lined up. The problem with these is that you can really own them! For the last several years he has had some estates or large caches of parts consigned. This year was no exception. The remains of a small dealership had come in. The contents were varied but had something for everyone. A chopped 59 Bonneville, a box of early Vincent parts, a lathe, how about a BSA Goldstar road racing transmission? It was all in there. Friday was “Showtime” as they say. Jerry likes to start off with some small lots of memorabilia. This year a man had walked in with a large lot of early Indian signs 7,000 was sold for $3 This MV racer 82 Honda CBX. es a bid on a 19 Jerry Wood tak 0 It sold for $9,00 was sold for Ducati 900SS This crisp 1975 $35,000. Another day had a combined “all marques” show. AHRMA awarded prizes to various classes. It was what you called a “laid back day” with the bikes beneath the trees. Participants sat in chairs or chatted in the welcome shade. Judging was by people’s 28 JUNE 2008 I WALNECK’S CLASSIC CYCLE TRADER® I WALNECKS.COM http://WALNECKS.COM
