Also some early Honda brochures showing the RC161 road racer were on offer as well as some early Harley Davidson knucklehead brochures. A rare Ducati radio was sold for $1500. An Evel Knievel pinball machine was hammered down for $1200. After the crowd had warmed up on these lots, the motorcycles were offered. Some of the more notable sales were a 1966 Harley Davidson Sportster that was in excellent condition selling for $10,600. CBX’s continue to be hot. A really “cherry’ 1982 with all of the touring gear was hammered down at $9,000. A rarely seen BiMota Deci was sold for $6500. It was one of 224 built. As the momentum gained, so did the prices. One of the featured bikes, Gary Scott’s Triumph TT dirt bike was rolled up and knocked down for $18,000! Next was a MV Racer for $37,000. Now it was time for a few world records. A 1975 Ducati 900SS, one of only 227 built that year was sold for $35,000. The purchaser later said, “This is the one Ducati that has always eluded me.” It also helped to pull up a 1980 Ducati 900SS to $13,500. Soon a bronze Honda CL-77 was rolled across. It showed three miles on the speedo! It was hammered down for $13,500. This was a record for any 305 Honda to date. An Ariel with only 800 miles was a no sale at $29,000. It was probably one of the nicest originals in the world. A 1972 Honda CB 750 went right up to $7,200. A rarely seen Godden speedway bike was sold for only $1,800. A BiMota Deci was sold for $6,500. It sold for ar only $13,500 The auction which started at 1pm went until almost 8pm. Most lots were sold. As with any sale there were some phenomenal prices and some excellent buys.
