Walneck's Classic Cycle Trader - July 2008 - (Page 38) SPECIAL FEATURE STORIES 30 YEARS IN REVIEW 30 Years In Review Part 3 of 3 By Buzz Walneck W e hit it off right from the beginning our talk with Mr. George Brooks, and Mr. Norman Hoffmann of Trader Publishing. They were very impressed with ROADOG when they paid a visit to our place to discuss buying my magazine. We struck a deal and its’ been 30 years! After Trader Publishing Company took over the production of the magazine, in a very short period of time, it grew and was “perfect” bound, like a book, rather than a magazine. And it showed up as a result of their massive distribution system, in large bookstores, and nationwide in the Trader-racks, found in most service stations, convenience stores, and “coffee/donut” stores. That was just the start. I stayed on with them, and they let me continue the things I liked, digging thru magazines for old Road Tests, writing articles, talking with readers and subscribers at Walneck’s shows and swap meets, as well as other big events. Also, to help keep the casual, sometime humorous look and yet deliver the buy / sell message that they are so famous at doing with all their publications. In the last past year, with Heidi Boe the General manager for Walneck’s Classic Cycle Trader and Aero-Trader at the helm, we have seen “The Restoration in Progress” materialize and provide over $20,000 to The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in 2007. We are very big on the website to provide more sales exposure for dealers, key accounts and private party customers. In addition, Walneck’s website is on target in 2008 for a complete overhaul. 1997 - Enter Trader Publishing Company/Auto Trader. What a wonderful happening for the magazine With nationwide distribution on the Trader racks. It was a Very Good happening for us. 38 JULY 2008 Walneck’s new E-book is the most recent result of Heidi Boe and her staff of Ridgely White, Otis Barnes, Emma Meredith, Paula Bushey and Denise Bettis.
