For those whose interest lies in the two-wheeled world, Walneck’s Woodstock swap meet signals the beginning of life as we know it. It has been nearly three decades since the first event, and it has grown in size with every passing year. The range of wares being offered for sale is immense, but typically revolves around the world of motorcycles. Anyone searching for a specific item required for restoration or a new project bike, the Woodstock event is the place to go. Nearly every maker is represented including In addition to motorcycles and all manners of related parts, you can find a large number of items that fall outside that description. One vendor had a nice selection of weed trimmers in his space while others had collections of printed matter on hand. Milk crates full of electronic bits could be found alongside freshly packaged bits of chrome with nearly every need being satisfied. A variety of “project” bikes were seen in varying levels of decay. Some were almost ready to ride while others were miles away from that stage in their lives. Prices for most of the offered machines seemed to be in line with the market while there were a number that carried tags that belied realism. Being a free country, people can ask what they wish, but may go home with the same stuff they brought to the show. Rows and rows of all kinds of motorcycles and parts for sale machinery from Japan, Italy and the good old U S of A. Vendors setup in their choice of indoor or outdoor spots and this year 11 buildings were needed to house those hawking their items. Walking the show myself, I was again stunned by the variety of materials being sold. The expanding scope of vintage Japanese machines was well represented with a number of clean cycles from the ’70s were being shown. As usual, my appetite for these bikes exceeded my capacity to pay for them, leaving me empty handed.
