Walneck's Classic Cycle Trader - February 2009 - (Page 86) SPECIAL FEATURE STORIES HOLY COW ! “Holy Cow . . . . !” The owner of Blue Island Printing, said to me . . .“Buzz. . you are into motorcycles. . come take a look at one I have in the tavern I own across the street”. We walk over there, and see a part of a bike behind the abandoned tavern’s bar. As I got closer and leaned over the bar. . . my first words were probably heard ALL OVER THE NEIGHBORHOOD . . HOLY COW ! ! By Buzz Walneck omeone used that old expression the other day and I had a “ fade back” or Deja Vu for a few seconds and recalled this memory, from 1987. Wow. . . 21-years go really FAST ! I dug out some old photos , and got an O.K. from “Easy Riders” magazine to reprint some photos from an article on this AWESOME bike we once owned. . . It all started one day when I was picking up our order of “Walneck’s” from our printer in Blue Island, Illinois. Kind of in the South side of Chicago. . . actually a half mile from the famous “Blues Brothers “ shopping malls destruction! It is still there. . . just as Jake & Elwood left it in the movie! ( smashed and totally destroyed.). S Sure. . . I bought it! Little did I know then that this would NOT be the BIGGEST motorcycle that I would own! (years later. . . enter ROADOG. . .) Check it out against the old Porsche behind it. Ed (our son) was about 15-years old and would soon want a car so that “He and Dad” could fix it up! Sound familiar ? This was a $2,500 Porsche! We would open the hood cover when starting the car, as it usually popped back and set the carbs on fire! Easier to put out the fire that way.
