Walneck's Classic Cycle Trader - May 2009 - (Page 9) MONTHLY FEATURES help of a PBTF scholarship. What a wonderful young lady. It is the tradition of Walneck’s Classic Cycle to donate a motorcycle for the silent auction each year. This time it was a very nice, low mileage 1971 Triumph TR6 650, which brought in $4,600 for the cause. The auction of memorabilia—including paintings, books and dented /autographed gas tanks—brought in a total of $22,000 this year. Something for nothing. . a good deal ! THE BUZZ About 20-years ago, when we were primarily a British content magazine, the Japanese bikes began showing up and we added them to our “non section, potpourri, random ad system. “ Actually a non system. We began receiving calls and letters, saying that IF. . .we continued to run Japanese motorcycle ads, some subscribers would quit! (these were the OLD Buzz & Pixie days, prior to Trader / Dominion ). What a dilemma I thought about it and came up with this solution that immediately satisfied everyone(WOW!). In my next “The Buzz”, I addressed this, and said that we would add the Japanese as a separate section. . .and that anyone who did not wish to read this. . .could simply ignore, or tear off those pages. . .and they would still have the same great book they have enjoyed. There is a lot in print on how to “build a Custom”, but not many national places to sell one! If you have any friend with Custom bikes, looking to sell theirs, to build another, or whatever. . .please pass this onto them. . .WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP and. . . CONTINUED SUPPPORT. . .The staff of Walneck’s Classic Cycle! Last weekend we attended the A.B.A.T.E. event in Springfield, Illinois. They had a bike show, with about 16-Custom bikes, and two stock 1950’s - 60’s Harleys. I have two “Bobbers’” myself, “Lady-K” my ‘52, and a 1967 XLH, along with several stock British , and Japanese bikes. I know that some of these Customs’ were for sale, but we could provide a better sales platform for them in our publication. We are and have been for the last 30-years, a major place to help sell your Classic and Antique motorcycle or parts. Starting with the June issue, we will add a new section. NOTHING WILL CHANGE. . IN THE MAGAZINE ! All the articles, old road tests, restoration articles, will be just the same. We will add some “Extra” pages, at the END of the magazine, for a new section called “ Bobs’ & Chops’ Custom Corner “.
