The performances take place in conjunction with the July 4th holiday. Over two hundred singers, musicians and dancers take center stage in multiple performances to celebrate America’s independence. American favorites such as The Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic, are joined on the program with selections from American composers including John Phillips Sousa, Irving Berlin and Rogers and Hammerstein. Local soloists Richard Clark and Armen Dirtadian sing these favorite and stirring patriotic songs. July 4, 4pm. In front of UA Centennial Hall, 1020 E. Other Hispanic community artists will also be showcased. The AHS will conduct a Storycorps program at the fiesta, modeled on National Public Radio’s oral history project of that name, where the attendees can reminisce about how music and dance has influenced them in their everyday lives. The educational program of the Fiesta will present the evolution of Hispanic music and dance in its social, cultural and historic context, drawing heavily on archives and collections to provide photographs and documents to support the educational component of the fiesta & Viva Arizona Concert.
