Apparel 2008 Marketing Portfolio - (Page 25) 08 rate card Advertising Specifications Trim Size: 8” X 10 3/4” Printing Method: Web Offset Pre-Press Production: Computer-To-Plate Digital Specs The following digital formats are acceptable: PDF, Illustrator EPS, Photoshop EPS and Applications files (we prefer QuarkXPress files). Page Set Up • Set Full page ads document size to the publication’s trim size. Set partial ad’s document size to actual partial ad size. • No color bars, agency instructions, etc., should be in the digital file. Only the ad material that is to be printed should be in the digital file. Document size equals trim size. • When using Application files, pull the bleeds out 1/8'' on all sides. Do not make the document size the bleed size. • The live type safety margin is 1/4'' in from the trim. Graphics/Scans • All 4/c files (scans, downloads, etc.) should be 300dpi resolution and CMYK. We prefer EPS files. No PSD or JPEG files. Scan using CMYK settings. All layers must be flattened. All transparencies must be flattened. • All Halftone/grayscale files (scans, downloads, etc.) should be 300 dpi. We prefer EPS files. No PSD or JPEG files. Scan using Halftone (Grayscale) settings. All layers must be flattened. All transparencies must be flattened. • All line art (black and white/bitmap) should be 1,200 to 2,400 dpi. We prefer EPS or TIFF files. Scan using Bitmap (B&W) settings. Color All color (fonts, backgrounds, frames, graphics, EPS files, etc.) must be CMYK. In Quark un-check the Spot Color Box. NO RGB, Pantone or Spot color. Fonts We prefer Adobe Postscript 1 Fonts. NO Multiple Master fonts. DO NOT use application Type Styles for Bold, Italic from the Quark Measurement palette; you must have the Actual Font (Times Bold, Times Bold Italic). Output • Download all files, fonts, graphics and anything else needed to output the file to a CD or you can email the files. • Only include files that are needed to output your work. • Put fonts in a Font folder, put graphics in a Graphics folder. • Please label disc with the advertiser’s name and the publication’s name. Color Proofs • For accurate color proofing on press, please provide an Imation Matchprint, Kodak Approval, or Iris Pro-SWOP. We cannot be responsible for color fidelity if you do not submit a SWOP proof. Standards • Include a printout of what files are on the disc and a full size color proof for the printer to use. Total ink density of four color should not exceed 280%. Thin lines and medium or small type should be restricted to one color. Dot gain from file to final print could increase to approximately 20% (at a 50% dot).
