Business Partner Appreciation Luncheon On May 12th, the Golden Gate Chapter hosted its annual Business Partner Appreciation Luncheon at the Elk’s Lodge in the historic Kensington Park Hotel in San Francisco. Well attended, the annual fete attracted 70 chapter members and valued Business Partners. Members were again assigned seats with Business Partners to enjoy lunch and get some valuable face-time with those individuals whose companies provide so much value to our chapter. Right after the entrée members moved from their assigned seats to another, second assigned, table to meet with a new set of Business Partners while enjoying dessert. To keep conversations going, on each table a sheet of “ice-breaker” questions was provided:      What brought you to this profession? How did you come to work for your company? What is the biggest misconception about your business? What do you find most challenging in dealing with law firms? Since last year, what changes have you noticed in the legal market that have affected your business? However, judging from the lively din in the room (“four bells”,–at least from this reviewer), members and Business Partners were not having any trouble finding things to talk about. Two scholarships to this September’s Region 5/6 Conference in San Diego (generously sponsored by Special Counsel and eFax Corporate) were won by Marge Walker and John Randall at the climactic drawing before the luncheon’s close. Other lucky drawing winners were Inger Aadahl for two Giant’s tickets (donated by Cor-O-Van) Nichole Kohake for lunch at the Elk’s Club (donated by The Elks Club) and for a bottle of wine each, Katy Wolfe, a Business Partner from Adams & Martin and member Shawn Defer. The Importance of Our Business Partners We are very grateful to our 2010 Business Partners who sponsor our organization. As members of the Golden Gate Chapter, we are rewarded by our Business Partners’ sponsorships in many ways including:      Valued educational programs about industry trends; Dynamic speakers at Chapter luncheons; Publication of The Bridge newsletter; Our informative Chapter web site www.alasf.org; and Scholarships to Regional Conferences. John Randall and Simone Brown (Executive Director of Special Counsel) in a “special” moment. We encourage each of our members to reach out to our Business Partners, thank them for their support, talk to them, learn from them, and invite them into your offices to explore the opportunities to build valuable business relationships. The partnerships with our Business Partners and their industry expertise are critical to our success as legal managers.
