The Bridge - March/April 2017 - 5
Meet Your New Executive Committee Annie Lathram - President I rejoined the Golden Gate Chapter in 2012 after convincing my HR Director at the time that I would get more value through an ALA membership than I would through a local SHRM membership. My most favorite memory to date was attending my first CLI conference in 2015 as Secretary of the Chapter and getting an opportunity to spend quality time with my fellow Executive Committee colleagues learning about Chapter management. We bonded and I felt an immediate connection to them. I think this experience allowed all of us to get off to a great start in leading our Chapter. I am currently the Director of California Operations for Reed Smith and just assumed that role last year. Having spent most of my career as an HR professional, having access to the ALA network has made my transition into this role more successful. Everyone I've met through ALA has been tremendous in providing guidance and mentorship. Probably the greatest benefit I have in being a GGC Chapter Leader are the friendships I have developed with an amazing group of seasoned law management professionals whom I can reach out to at any time. That network has empowered me to take more risks in my current role as I know that I have access to a great group of knowledgeable peers. As President of the GGC, I hope to further advance our Diversity and Inclusion initiative and to strengthen our brand in the community by getting our business partners and sister chapters involved in more community service projects this year. I also hope to address how we can attract and engage the next generation of law management professionals to join our Chapter. My most memorable quote from 130 years ago and one that still reasonates today is: "If Your Only Tool Is a Hammer Then Every Problem Looks Like a Nail" ~Mark Twain 5 Golden Gate Chapter March/April 2017
