Energy Biz - September/October 2008 - (Page 46) ExECUTivES CHART COURSE THROUgH TOWERiNg CHALLENgES By MARTiN ROSENBERg PHOTOgRAPHS By ASHLEy HUTCHESON Take politics out of energy policy. The power industry must brace itself for enormous change. Electricity prices will rise — possibly steeply. These are some of the assertions made by a panel of seven leading electric utility executives who recently participated in EnergyBiz magazine’s third annual Leadership Roundtable for senior executives of investor-owned utilities. Collectively, their companies’ market capitalization stands at about $124 billion — one-quarter of all investor-owned utilities. Their comments, edited for length and style, follow. Given the importance and wide range of issues addressed and the in-depth responses given to many questions, we have elected to publish a significant portion of our conversation to more fully convey the thinking of these industry leaders. l eadershiP roundtabl es From left, David Ratcliffe, Patricia Vincent-Collawn, John Rowe, James Rogers, John Ramil, Dave Goodin and Michael Yackira. 46 E n E rgyB i z September/October 2008
