Philadelphia understands the need to attract new business investment to the city. It helps revitalize and strengthen neighborhoods and maintains a high quality of life for its citizens. The Mayor’s Neighborhood Transformation Initiative looked to geographic information system (GIS) technology to help meets its business development goals. The GIS Services Group at the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Information Services selected ESRI® ArcGIS® Server to create a Web-based GIS business site selection tool and economic development decision-support application. Employees across several departments use GIS to inform potential businesses of the economic development initiatives and to help them make informed decisions about potential sites.
