Lake Lure Flowering Bridge
In 2011 the historic 1925 Rocky Broad River bridge was
closed to traffic and transformed into the Lake Lure
Flowering Bridge by a team of volunteers. With more 1,000
species of flowers and plants, there three-arch bridge is
now a pedestrian walkway open everyday and year round
for people to enjoy free of charge. With an emphasis on
native plants, the bridge is maintained completely by a
team of volunteers whose mission is to create a "Gateway to
Somewhere Beautiful" for everyone to enjoy.
